Making responsible resolutions.

A month into the new year and some of us may be wondering what happened to those new year’s resolutions we made with such fervour new years eve. This was the year that personal fulfillment would be reached, happiness attained and goals accomplished!

It sounded good at the time…*shrug*

Why is it that we so often make promises to ourselves and so rarely follow through? Don’t we want to accomplish our goals? Don’t we want to feel personally fulfilled and feel happy?

Of course we do! The problem is not whether we want these things for ourselves. The problem lies in our personal commitment and responsibility to ourselves.

Dave Cheong has a great article called 10 R’s to Apply if You Want to Succeed. This article thoroughly breaks down all of the steps you will need to take in order to accomplish your goals. I think it’s a pretty accurate to-do list complete with flow chart and explanations.

Though the 10 R’s are essential steps to success, there is another ‘R’ that is just as, if not more, important to success; Responsibility. By taking personal responsibility for your life, you are making the commitment to follow through on the steps to success.

Remember that you are responsible for your own life. You decide how far you want to go, because we all know that you can make it happen.
